A New Keyboard And Mouse From The Master

The Logitech MX Keys Advanced Wireless Illuminated Keyboard is easily recognized as there are not many keyboards on the market with rounded keycaps.  These are designed to fit your fingertips and prevent your fingers from sliding off into an mbarrasing typo, the stability of the design is also increased by the solid metal body which prevents flex.  There are RGBs, sensing the presence of your fingers as well as the ambient lighting in your area to enhance battery life by dimming or shutting off when not needed.

The keyboard is rated for 10 days of continual use with the lighting, or about 5 months with RGBs disabled.  This keyboard as well as the mouse below are Flow-enabled devices, which allows you to quickly switch control of different computers that have the driver installed, even swapping between machines with different OSes.  The Keys will even allow you to transfer files between the machines, the example shows CTRL-C and CTRL-V to transfer a file between machines.  This feature will bear further investigation into it’s maximum capacity as well as the security of the application.

Logitech Announces The MX Master 3 and MX Keys - General Tech 2

The MX Master 3 is a wireless mouse which is equally at home in the office and gaming, with a variety of customization options available to suit your needs.  The mouse wheel, officially the MagSpeed Electromagnetic wheel scrolling is designed to be able to stop on a single pixel but also able to scroll 1,000 lines in a second, it has been designed to work silently so you only feel the motion instead of hearing it.  There is also a thumb wheel to give you the abilty to add horizontal scrolling to your repertoire in a variety of productivity software.

Instead of a high DPI Pixart sensor, the MX Master 3 uses Logitech’s Darkfield Tracking which will work on almost any surface, up to and including some glass surfaces, and the 4000 DPI accuracy will be sufficient for the vast majority of users.  The battery will handle up to 70 days on a full charge, and you can get three hours of use from a one minute charge in a pinch.  As with the Keys, Logitech’s Flow software allows you to move your mouse pointer between systems with the driver installed.  Just move off the side of your Windows desktop to your Linux laptop and then over to your Mac Pro.

Both will be available for $99.99 towards the end of the month.

Scroll wheel still doesn’t tilt, and the side-wheel is still some silly spinner thing rather than a 3-way jog wheel. And it lacks the extra fingertip buttons. The MX Master series still remains behind the 2011 MX Revolution in functionality.
