The Inquirer had a chance to lay their hands on the new Google Pixel and Pixel XL and have shared their experiences here. We have covered the specs of the phone previously and so will not reiterate them here, check out Tim's coverage for the details. The impression that The Inq immediately had upon grasping the phone is that it feels very much like a slimmer HTC 10, which they were not overly impressed by. That HTC phone was rated 88 in DxOMark, the Pixel an 89 while the iPhone 7 garnered a rating of 86, if you follow that particular benchmark tool. They had a strong feeling that Google may have missed too many marks on this phone to justify the pricing, read on to see if you agree with their experiences.
"On first impressions, we can't help but feel that the Pixel is a bit of a wasted opportunity. The handset has a largely boring design, doesn't offer much in the way of innovation and is expensive compared with previous Nexus smartphones."

Smart phones are for dumb
Smart phones are for dumb people! Flip Phones rule with no crappy apps,! Phones are for calling.
That said! We will never Know how good the Google Phone is compared to the Apple phone, because the Custom ARM core makers refuse to list their Custom Core specifications like the x86 core makers do. The last good report on any Apple custom core was on the A7 cyclone by Anand Lal Shimpi! that A7 is a great core. Who knows what the A8/A8X, A9/A9X and newer Apple core designs have.
Apple iOS sucks, it’s not for real work it’s for crap apps and Spam, same for Android, more crap apps and Spam. Apple still makes the widest custom ARM core with an Issue Width of 6 micro-ops(twice as wide as any refrence design core form ARM Holdings). We don’s know much about the other custom ARM core makers core’s instruction issue widths because Anand Lal Shimpi is not in the reporting business any more. So without Anand Lal Shimpi’s deep dives into the custom ARM core’s real core specifications, who the F–K knows!
let’s hope AMD’s custom ARMv8A ISA running K12 will be more like AMD’s Zen with SMT/other cache features! Because at least AMD, Intel, and IBM will talk about their respective CPU core’s features.
I really can’t see who would
I really can’t see who would buy these at their retail price. It’s at least 1, if not 2 tiers below a similarly priced S7.
Real fucking men, who work

The 32GB Nexus 5 cost $449 in
The 32GB Nexus 5 cost $449 in Australia. The 32GB Pixel costs $1079. And that’s the cheapest model available.
I picked up a Moto G4 Play for A$199 instead. It’s slower, has a lower resolution screen, the camera is adequate at best, and there’s no fingerprint scanner. But it supports micro SD and dual SIM cards and has a replaceable battery, and cost pocket change by comparison.
My Nexus 5 is still going
My Nexus 5 is still going very very strong After 3 years.
We need the next version of my phone : no stupid very expensive aluminium thin , not over 5″ , top CPU, at around 350€ and not wasted space around the body ( the Nexus 5 is pretty small for a 5″ phone ).
P.s sorry for my bad English
It was a great phone.
It was a great phone. Unfortunately I broke mine and had to go back to using my Nexus 4, which seems to be indestructible. Got the Moto G4 Play because I really needed the extra storage.
Looks exactly like iPhone 8.
Looks exactly like iPhone 8.
garbage phone with an even
garbage phone with an even worse os filled with spyware. I mean whats the point of those bezels, at least the iPhone has the fingerprint reader occupying the lower bezel where it should be not the back of the phone.
I wish the phone was water
I wish the phone was water resistant. Seems like a large oversight given both major competitors now offer it on their phones.
My iPhone 6 died last week,
My iPhone 6 died last week, screen went crazy for 2 days then nothing. The thing I miss most is the weather app. It’s possible my phone died from contact with water since it was raining the day the problems began. Even though I kept the phone in a case and in my pocket the whole time while also using an umbrella. Weird. It’s just enough to spook me into wanting to get in the waiting list for an iPhone 7 with its superior waterproofing. The last I looked though the 128GB models were out of stock through 11/30. Not going to wait that long for a replacement phone. Considering an SE but may go with a Pixel and fail to learn my lesson. It’s not about features at this point, it’s about availability. A lesson Samsung has learned the hard way.
