Ryzen 7 3700X, Ryzen 7 3800X, and Ryzen 9 3900X Arriving July 7

The wait is finally over: we now have official details on AMD’s Ryzen 3000 series processors, and the specifications and pricing are very impressive.

During the Computex 2019 keynote address AMD CEO Lisa Su shared details of the company’s newest desktop CPUs, which feature AMD’s 7nm Zen 2 core architecture. Compared to the previous generation Zen 2 provides double the cache size, 2x floating point performance, and an impressive 15% uplift in IPC.

The top of the 3rd-generation AMD Ryzen product stack will be the Ryzen 9, taking a cue from Intel’s Core i9 nomenclature, but eclipsing Core i9 and its 8 cores/16 threads with a 12 core/24 thread Ryzen 9 3900X CPU. This is what AMD is calling the “no compromise product” for desktop users, which is positioned to compete with Intel’s 12-core Core i9-9920X but at less than half of the cost.

The Ryzen 9 3900X will offer a base frequency of 3.8 GHz and boost clocks up to 4.6 GHz, and this performance fits within an impressive 105W TDP. Two 8-core Ryzen 7 processors were also announced: the Ryzen 7 3700X, a 65W CPU with 3.6 GHz base/4.4 GHz boost clocks, and Ryzen 7 3800X, a 105W CPU with higher 3.9 GHz base/4.5 boost clocks.

Also announced were two 8-core Ryzen 7 processors: the Ryzen 7 3700X, a 65W CPU with 3.6 GHz base/4.4 GHz boost clocks, and Ryzen 7 3800X, a 105W CPU with higher 3.9 GHz base/4.5 boost clocks. The new Ryzen 3000 family also includes Ryzen 5 CPUs, with 6-core / 12-thread Ryzen 5 3600X and Ryzen 5 3600 parts rounding out the product stack.

Pricing is aggressive, ranging from $199 to $499 for the announced CPUs. The AMD Ryzen 7 3700X has a list price of $329, the Ryzen 7 3800X is priced at $399, and the 12-core Ryzen 9 3900X is priced at $499 – by far the lowest price for a 12-core CPU to date. As to the Ryzen 5, of the two announced products pricing will be $249 for the Ryzen 5 3600X and $199 for the Ryzen 3600.

Looking forward to the reviews. I have an aging 4790k to replace and one of these 8/12/16 core parts should give me a nice uplift in Premier Pro rendering.

While I’m interested in Ryzen 3 and X570, my concern is that I haven’t been able to find out whether the desktop models include any integrated graphics. Say what you will about Intel, but at least they openly include graphics in all but their top end models of CPUs. Do you guys know whether the new Ryzen CPUs and Chipsets include graphics?
