New Model Offers Intel 9th Gen CPUs and NVIDIA Graphics

We already took a look at the smaller of Dell’s new XPS laptops, with the XPS 13 2-in-1 being announced equipped with Intel’s upcoming 10th Gen processors with Gen11 graphics, but what about the larger 15.6-inch version? The new XPS 15 (7950) offers Intel’s 9th Generation Core processors up to the powerful Core i9-9980HK, an 8-core 45W part offering Turbo frequencies up to 5.0 GHz.

Graphics options include Intel’s UHD 630 graphics and a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU with 4GB GDDR5, with system memory of up to 64GB DDR4-2666 supported via the XPS 15’s two SoDIMM slots. As to storage, the XPS 15 offers configurations ranging from a 256GB to a 2TB PCIe Gen3 x4 SSD.

And we can’t forget the new OLED display, Dell’s first in a laptop. The XPS 15 will be available with this 15.6-inch 4K Ultra HD InfinityEdge OLED display as an option, and it provides 100% DCI-P3 coverage and up to 400 nits brightness along with the virtually infinite contrast ratio that makes OLED so captivating (Dell lists it as “100,000:1”).

    I don’t see myself buying any laptop with an Intel CPU’s for a long time. AMD’s APUs are just too good to bother with the iGPU from Intel.

      I hear the zen+ based laptops are not as good with battery life still as intel options. Has this changed yet? Will be interesting to see the zen2 options. If battery life were equal I would definitely go amd.

      Certainly the 10th Gen CPUs with Gen11 graphics from the new XPS 13 2-in-1 offer a more interesting iGPU option… If I were to get the XPS 15 I’d certainly opt for discrete graphics.
