I hope EA just goes out of business. They’re a cancer of the game industry, consuming perfectly good studios, leaving nothing but awfulness behind.

Battlefield 2142 was a steaming pile of buggy hell.
I didn’t expect this to be different, so I didn’t treat it
as though.
EA is like Charter Cable.
Not allowed in my house.

In your “Tech Talk” section:

“• As netizens, devs scream bloody murder over Chrome ad-block block, Googlers insist: It’s not set in stone (yet) @ The Register”

Looks like Google is up to its usual EVIL again! Just like Google always is and was from the beginning, EVIL!

Also Wikichip’s website has been ruined by Google’s damn ads that cover up the Wikichip content. Wikichip needs to force all ads be anchored off to the side and not anchored over the top of the content. And even reporting the ad still does not prevent the ad’s client area from covering the Wikichip content.

Google and other Ad pushers need to be fined when their ad content covers any website content and the ad industry needs to add a required close button that makes the offending ad completely disappear from in front of the webpage content that the ad covers.

Really webpage ads need to be regulated and relegated to the left and right margins of any webpages with no other areas allowed to be used for any AD content! Ad content should not be allowed more than about 35K of download size, script included, so as to not eat up anyones bandwidth caps!

On the gaming subject:

The Games Makers are becoming like little ISPs with all their nickel and diming efforts to get more cash for their greedy investors. I say give them a few business quarters of a deep resession and that’s what will happen as more folks grow tired of throwing their money into those bottomless cash pits the games makers have created.

I honestly think this is entirely EA’s fault. Dice is more than capable of making a great game, but much like all other games under EA, they are basically shit upon by EA in some form or fashion.
As Jim Sterling has pointed out time and again, EA is bowing to the shareholders because they have set a precedent of an unsustainable business model, which in turn means EA puts pressure on all of their studios to make their games the next Fifa.

As soon as the priority shifted from ‘let’s try and make the best games possible’ to ‘let’s try and make as much money as possible’ the entire game industry has been going downhill.

And as long as the average moron keeps buying loot boxes and micro-transactions and paying for games before they’re finished and, even worse, paying for future DLC when even the developers don’t know what that DLC is going to be, it’s never gonna change.
