It took a while for vendors to stop charging exorbitant fees for and SSDs contained their mass storage products.  While Enterprise drives require significantly higher standards compared to the ones in your computer, businesses simply weren’t interested in spending that much of their budgets.  Thankfully this has changed over the years and the enterprise class SSD market has exploded.

TweakTown took a look at two of the Micron 9400 Pro models available, a smaller 7.68TB and a huge 30.72TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD.  The drives use Micron’s 176-Layer B47R 3-bit flash and an unspecified controller.   The drives have impressive specifications, offering up to 1.6 million IOPS over PCIe Gen4 and sequential writes of up to 7,000 MB/s.  TweakTown’s testing provide that to be a rather conservative estimate as they saw up to 371,000 4K random write IOPS.

If you are wondering what it takes to test a 30.72TB drive, the review required 150 hours and roughly 16.5 petabytes of test data.  All that work was worth it if you are looking for the best Enterprise PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive, the Micron 9400 Pro series is the best they’ve seen.
