No company wants to hear their new flagship product has issues but unfortunately that has become all too common as financially gifted and tattooed Apple fans are well aware. It would seem that Samsung is also having launch pains as users are seeing problems with RAM allocation. The Inquirer reports that the phone will use up to 2.5GB for simple tasks, with Chrome being a major memory thief. The programs do still run and the issue is not causing crashes, instead you can expect to see some stuttering and a lot of refreshes when you return to an app that has lost focus, even for a short time. Samsung is aware of the problem and working on incremental updates which you can pick up via Update Now under Settings.
"SAMSUNG HAS ADMITTED that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are suffering performance problems due to a RAM management fault."

If you look at Samsung’s
If you look at Samsung’s system software on their laptops it is a dog’s mangy flee infested jewels. It’s a pain to boot up My Samsung series 3 laptop, and see that the damn software that Samsung provides with the laptop can not even keep the Wi-Fi antenna turned off when I turn it off, and keep it off until I turn it on. Samsung’s control center software, as well as the power optimization software are a Kludge at best in the way they handle the device’s function key options. Everything about the laptop is impacted by the poorly conceived Samsung System software, and it makes you wish that M$ would just standardize the function key, and other Wi-Fi, etc. functionality, and make all the OEMs follow a standard API with the OEMs terrible system software unable to modify or screw up the on screen controls that would remain standardized no matter the device manufacturer.
It’s not news to me to avoid Samsung’s OEM devices, their components may be good, but the OEM system software needs some investment, and until this changes I’m not going to give Samsung my business. At Least the phones software is getting some attention, their laptops could use some updating on the system software side also.
As a rule I usually do a
As a rule I usually do a complete reinstall of Windows when I get a new laptop, and only add drivers for things I actually use. This isn’t just a shortcoming of Samsung. Pretty much all Windows OEM machines suffer from this.
No it’s the necessary Samsung
No it’s the necessary Samsung System software, and I’ve had less problems with my ASUS and HP laptops, while the Toshiba, and Samsung laptops that I own have very crappy system software. The Samsung laptop’s control center software has been terrible at keeping the wifi turned off, which is very risky, as it will sometimes connect with an available wifi connection automatically. I’d like for the wifi to be off at boot up, and then I can turn it on and search for available safe wifi before deciding to connect, but when the necessary OEM specific system software that ships with the laptop is poorly written there is not much choice in the matter. We are not talking about bloatware here, we are talking about the necessary Samsung System software that enables the laptop’s necessary functionality.
I’d like to get rid of Samsung control center but the function keys are mapped by the Samsung system software, and can not be removed without borking some functionality. Some laptop OEMs put too much functionality in a single instance of necessary OEM specific system software on their products, and I would prefer that the OEM function key/key mapping software be a single application/service not tied to a larger suite, or monolithic program/service as too many bugs can be introduced. It’s impossible on the Samsung laptop to utilize the function keys for a good while after login while the necessary software loads to handle the function key services, and its impossible to turn the wifi off until the system software completely loads, and by then it’s too late the damn laptop will be already connected to the wifi at the coffee house. Samsung’s poorly executed necessary software build is what has lost them my repeat business, and my HP ProBook has a hardware wifi switch that keeps the Wifi off at boot up, and a lot of other functionality that works better, the same as my ASUS. The only reason ASUS lost my repeat business in not offering any newer laptops with windows 7, once that terrible 8 hit the market, the HP ProBook has a windows 8 pro sticker on the bottom side of the laptop, but it came upgraded to windows 7 Professional factory installed.
Windows 10 is not going to make me update from windows 7 on my older machines, to much worry about drivers compatibility, and such from their OEMs on the machines that were designed for 7, and do not have a UEFI BIOS for 8 or later. The HP ProBook ships with a enterprise SUSE distro, so maybe I’ll switch the laptop to Linux after 2020. I’ll not get any new laptops that can not have the UEFI secure boot turned off, and with windows 10 OEMs will have the Option on not allowing the UEFI secure boot to have an off switch in their UEFI BIOS. I will not have my hardware locked to any OS ecosystem, or locked into USING M$’s key signing authority to get a secure boot key for an alternative OS to function. I’ll probably get another newer model HP Probook that was made for 8/8.1 professional and has windows 7 professional factory installed, my current HP ProBook is getting about 2 years old, and there are plenty of HP ProBooks, last years models on sale new, for the same good price as the last ProBook that I purchased. I never get a current years model, and I save hundreds staying a year on more behind the bleeding edge technology that bleeds the wallet.
Crappy System Software means no repeat business from me, and windows 8 has caused my yearly new laptop purchase to turn into an every 2 years or longer new laptop purchase cycle, and Windows 10 with its emphasis on the cloud, App store ecosystem, and giving the OEMs the option of not providing a secure boot disable in UEFI BIOS, well that may stop my new laptop purchases for even longer, unless Microcenter starts carrying older model ProBooks new and on Sale with SUSE Linux near and after 2020. HP may do well putting a SUSE Linux DVD install disk in their ProBook boxes, alongside the windows 7, and 8/8.1 DVD install disks that currently ship with their business laptops. Even if I have to pay for the Linux install media, or enterprise SUSE support services fees for a year or two. 7 is the new XP, and it will probably live a while after 2020, for a fee.

It looks like Windows is much more polished system than Android.
The flaws of an open OS.
The flaws of an open OS.
The flaws of Google’s
The flaws of Google’s Android, and the Phone makers tied to the Android closed ecosystem that everybody in the industry wants, because that’s how Apple milks it’s victims’ wallets. There is an open source OS Kernel hidden down there under all those levels of Android abstraction layers, it’s just hamstrung by the Apple, M$, Google, Phone service provider types of business models that are there to milk the wallets! It appears that only the smartest people have the old fashioned dumb flip phones, and the real dummies are the ones with the smart Phones, and the empty wallets.
I won’t include the business/professional group that has the company smart phone forced upon them for they are not responsible for the services, but that’s a different matter if your work forces a company phone on you, but that expense is the on the company’s dime.
I like my Cheep-O flip phone, it’s saved me enough money for a decent laptop that is a much smarter purchase than any smart phone.
android is horrible even at
android is horrible even at stock on google device its unpolished and lacks optimization for hardware.
That wouldn’t be so bad if
That wouldn’t be so bad if the other options weren’t iPhone (a bit too dumb down) Windows Phone (Crazy UI lack of device choices, and hit or miss in the app department)
So windows 10 on a phone is
So windows 10 on a phone is going to be a full fat preemptive multitasking OS, with virtual memory and a paging file(?). I will not own a phone with Android, better get a full Linux distro running on tablets! Nor will I get a tablet with windows. Windows, iOS is out of the question, as I do not buy hardware locked into the cloud or app store ecosystem ditto for Android to a lesser degree. For sure Android is slow, it’s a software VM running a cross platform pseudo ISA(under the android Dalvik VM), with a runtime that converts the Pseudo ISA into the native ISA of the devise.
To hell with windows or Android, I’m waiting for the Ubuntu tablets/phones that are currently available in The EU, I would really like a Tablet that could run Linux Mint.
It looks like I’ll be sticking with my flip phone for a while, an I have never owned a tablet, maybe Valve will brand a Steam OS gaming tablet, and shut up and take my money.
Samsung needs to spend some of their mega-corporation bucks on some competent UI/Software developers, hell the country of Korea could change its name to the country of Samsung, they have great internet access speeds, they need better software/OS engineers. Get some balls Samsung and get a full Linux distro running on your Phones and laptops! Oh, but you want to be like Google, M$, and Apple, with that damned closed software ecosystem. I do own a Samsung flip phone it cost $19.99, and I refill it with my by the minute refill cards, that’s not too bad for a dumb phone, that I only use to make calls, that is really what a phone is for, I have my laptop for everything else.
