The new Lian Li PC-7N will appeal to those who prefer a case exterior with a simple clean design and modern conveniences inside. The case has four tool-less drive trays for 3.5: or 2.5" drives as well as a pair of tool-less 5.25" trays, which some of us still like to have. The case is 210x473x500mm (8.3×18.6×19.7") and can support CPU heatsinks up to 170mm as well as GPUs of up to 370mm (14.6") if you do not populate all the drive bays, 250mm (9.8") if you do.
It can support a pair of 120mm fans in the front and a single one in the rear, or a radiator of 120x240x60mm in the front if you prefer watercooling. The power and reset buttons are located on the top of the case, next to a pair of USB 3.0 ports and audio jacks which are protected by a hinged cover to help keep gunge out of your ports. You will be able to pick it up by the end of this month for around $100
Latest Mid Tower Chassis Builds Easily, Offers Customizable Drive Mounts and Generous Space
February 17, 2016, Keelung, Taiwan – Lian-Li Industrial Co. Ltd announces the PC-7N chassis. This mid-tower PC case may look familiar to long-time Lian Li customers, but internally it hosts important design updates. It includes an improved, customizable storage rack for drives, tool-less building features, and great clearances in a lightweight, minimal chassis.
Customizable Drive Storage
The PC-7N includes four drive trays fitted with vibration-dampening rubber washers. Each tray can be installed in one of eight slots near the front intake fans. Builders can easily remove, replace, or reposition each drive tray as needed. The drives are secured by a removable aluminum arm secured by thumbscrew.Versatile Cooling Options
The PC-7N can mount robust CPU coolers as tall as 170mm. It includes two 120mm intake fans at the front panel, with another 120mm exhaust fan on the rear panel. The front panel fans can be removed to accommodate a radiator as large as 140mmx280mmx60mm. The rear 120mm fan includes grommets for AIO water cooling systems.Great Expandability and Clearances
The PC-7N mounts ATX or mATX motherboards. By repositioning the drive trays, this chassis can fit large VGA cards as long as 370mm. If blocked by drive trays, it could still fit cards as long as 250mm. It mounts high-wattage ATX PSUs up to a maximum 270mm in length. It includes eight expansion slots.Convenient Building Features and Inputs
Drives can be freely installed and repositioned without tools – thumbscrews secure the support arm, and slot-in without losing small screws. The two 5.25” bays are tool-less as well; the front panel and fan filters can be removed and cleaned without screws. There's 14mm of space behind the motherboard tray, and 27mm space behind the drive rack for convenient cable management. It stands on four adjustable aluminum feet, with power, HD audio ports, and two USB 3.0 ports positioned above the front panel with a closable cover.Price and Availability
The PC-7N will be available in silver and black at the end of February for $99.
My system currently resides
My system currently resides in the Lancool PC-K7 from Lian Li. I have had it for several years now, and have been very happy overall with it. This could be a possible replacement for it, although it is a shame it can’t house bigger fans than 120mm. This looks like the it has the same cooling arrangement as my current case. And this case is around the same price as my current one was back in the day.
