Psst; Hey Buddy! Wanna Buy Some Optane?
A Long Time Since Launch And A Longer Way From Launch Price
There is nobody talking about Optane anymore but this was just too amusing to pass up. ServeTheHome spotted a deal on the Intel Optane 905P 1.5TB, selling for $0.20/GB which is a far cry from the almost $2000 launch price. Ignore previous comments about compatibility, that was for Optane Memory, désolé.
With PCIe 5.0 drives out you might wonder why you’d bother, and one reason is that NAND cache which lets it hit 500K 4K random reads and writes. The other main reason is it’s endurance, the 1.5TB drive is rated for 27PB of writes, which far outstrips what you can expect from a traditional NVMe drive. lt would be very interesting to see just how it’s performance matches up to a modern PCIe 5.
We have not posted a deal in a long time, but this is an awesome deal. The Intel Optane 905P 1.5TB is down to only $299. While these are normally $349, which is also a great deal, they are now down to $299 each.
