Tiny11 Now Available In Windows 11 23H2

20% Smaller Than Before

If the idea of having a smaller version of Windows 11, without any extras appeals to you, or if you are already using Tiny11 then the arrival of Tiny11 2311 will make you happy.  It incorporates the 23H2 update and actually takes up a smaller footprint on your drive.  Things like Edge and Copilot are optional, which certainly helps shrink the install, as well as meaning you won’t be continually prompted to use them.  There are a variety of fixes to bugs which plagued previous versions, the biggest being that Windows Update now works.

If you do have a portable device with limited storage and want to make it more useful you should keep in mind that you do need a valid Windows license to run Tiny11, so this is not a free Windows replacement.  The Register wouldn’t recommend using Tiny11 on your main rig, but for a laptop with next to no local storage this will give you a lot more breathing room to keep a few files on the device.

We took a look at Tiny11 earlier this year and, while an undoubted technical tour-de-force, found the considerably slimmed-down operating system more a curiosity than something one would want to use as a daily driver.
