Mech Engineer, For Those Who Possibly Like Building Mechs More Than Using Them

There’s A Demo, Plus The Full Game Is Very Affordable

If you are looking for something very different to play, Mech Engineer might be worth investigating.  Rock, Paper, SHOTGUN have words for the interface, labyrinthine being one of them.  There is a reason for this and it can be summed up in one word, MicroProse.  If you are of a certain age, you will recall the insane interfaces of the old MicroProse games which were half simulator and half trying to figure out how to play the damn thing.

In this case, you spend a large amount of time designing and building your mechs, up to and including testing the reactor before installing it.  If you do manage to design a working mech, you will send it out into a harsh underwater world full of very large and even more angry sea creatures, all of which would love to eat your mechs and your home.  If you want a challenge, which is not so much poorly designed as to be completely different from anything you’ve played recently then give Mech Engineer’s demo a shot.

Like XCOM but with extra robots, right? Wrong! Mech Engineer is nothing like XCOM. It is like tying your shoelaces with a pair of scissors. It is like doing jigsaw puzzles in a cesspit after the death of the sun.
