The HDMI Powered Wireless Logitech G ASTRO A50X Headset

It’s All About The Base Station

The Logitech G ASTRO A50X wireless gaming headset and base station doubles as an HDMI switcher, which is rather unique for a gaming headset.  The base station charges the headset when you are not using it, but it also has three HDMI 2.1 ports offering 40 Gbps transfers, up to 24-bit audio and full HDMI 2.1 4K 120Hz passthrough.  This means you can hook up your PC, console and cable TV to the ASTRO A50X and seamlessly toggle between sources.  The proper HDMI 2.1 means that variable refresh rates are supported, so you won’t lose out on that feature if you connect a high refresh rate monitor to the output.

TweakTown describes the audio quality as decent, and it does ship with a Dolby Atmos license to make your gaming a little more intense.  They were very impressed with the quality of the microphone, not quite as good as a dedicated one, but one of the best headset microphones they have encountered.  You can read the review for free, the ASTRO A50X will cost you around $380 though.

The HDMI-powered Base Station sets the ASTRO A50X LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset apart and it delivers seriously impressive audio at its core.
