CableMod 12VHPWER 90° And 180° Cables, Both V1.0 and V1.1 Are Causing Burnination

That fancy angled 12VHPWER cable you picked up for your new RTX card should be uninstalled as soon as you possibly can.  CableMod is  recalling all V1.0 and V1.1 angled cables due to the fact that the adapters can become loose during cable management or simply the use of the system.  Once they become loose they are prone to overheating, which causes the adapter to melt into the GPU and could well cause a fire.

The recall is specific to the 90° and 180° cables, the rest are safe to use.  You can apply for a full refund or for store credit and free shipping to purchase a replacement cable that won’t torch your rather valuable RTX GPU.  While so far less than 1% of the cables have failed, in the US there are 272 reports of the adapters becoming loose, with at least $74,500 in damages inflicted.  Aren’t new power cable standards great?

CableMod said it found that the male connectors on the adapters can become loose during cable management and use of the system, leading to overheating and the adapter melting into the GPU, posing a fire and burn risk.
