Swiftech's MCP655-PWM line is based off of the Laing D5 pump and ships barebones or with a variety of tops, such as the acrylic model sent to TechPowerUp to test. The pump is rated to move 55 GPM/1250 LPH at 12V, with a head of up to 4m (13') though this will be lowered if you utilize the PWM feature. They note that you should double check your 4-pin headers to ensure that it is a PWM header, not one with a VCC pin. Why do the new revisions of
Why do the new revisions of pumps still come with molex connectors? It’s the only thing in the modern PC building that still uses molex. Why can’t it be a SATA power so I can use the same cable that powers my drives?

SATA power doesn’t officially support that level of power. It can only carry roughly 1.5A of 12V power, and D5 pumps require closer to 2A.

Actually, it’s 1.5A per pin at 12v, and there are 3 pins, so that means 4.5A max.
“To reduce impedance and increase current capability, each voltage is supplied by three pins in parallel, though one pin in each group is intended for precharging (see below). Each pin should be able to carry 1.5 A.”
