Can Your Motherboard Handle DDR5-8000?
The Patriot Viper Patriot Xtreme 5 DDR5-8000 kit has timings of 38-48-48-84-117 and runs at 1.45 V. As TechPowerUp discovered, you need a fairly robust motherboard to run at those speeds, even more so if you plan on overclocking. The high frequency and comparatively tight timings certainly has a positive effect on synthetic benchmarks and will get you a handful of extra frames in some games on Intel systems that can handle it.
TPU and the Intel 13900K they used was able to hit DDR5-8600, but only if a single DIMM was installed. With both DIMMs installed they settled on DDR5-8200 @ 1.5V, with slightly tighter timings of 34-48-84-84. That bumped up the synthetic results and added yet another handful of frames in gaming performance. If you are interested, the 32GB kit will run you $200.
